Asari Dokubo arrested in Benin Republic

Just got a press release from lawyer Festus Keyamo explaining that hisfriend andclient, ex-militant Asari Dokubo was arrested in Benin Republic today. Read the press release below... Today, Tuesday, November 26, 2013, my friend and client, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, around the hours of 1:00pm and 2:00pm by the country’s gendarmes (Police Force). He was picked up around the Lubeleyi roundabout and taken to an unknown destination. We want to emphasise that Alhaji Dokubo-Asari carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now. In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country. All these places have been searched as at this evening and nothing incriminating was found. We think his arrest and detention is a ploy by certain forces in Nigeria in unholy alliance with the Beninoise government to keep him away as 2015 approaches. We call on the Nigerian government to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-Asari and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria. Meanwhile, we shall be liaising immediately with our colleagues in that country to enforce his fundamental rights. Thank you.

Angola reportedly bans Islam. How can they do that though?

Shouldn't there be freedom of religion to every citizen of a country, so how can Angola do this? If reports are to be believed then the Southern African country has become the first country in the world to ban the Islamic religion. According to multiple reports coming from Angola, Mosques in the country have been closed down and some even destroyed. The Guardianreports that on November 22, the Angolan Minister of Culture Rosa Cruz e Silva said that “the process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and so their mosques would be closed until further notice.” Does a religion need to be legalized? The minister also said that the closing of mosques was done in a move to stop so-called 'illegal religious sects.' Under new laws in Angola, many religious sects have suddenly become criminal. Yesterday November 24, Angola President José Eduardo dos Santos said that the country is working toward putting an end to Islamic influence in Angola once and for all while the Governor of Luanda, Bento Bento, said that “radical” Muslims are not welcome in the country and that the Angolan government will not be legalizing mosques or other places of worship for Muslims.

President Jonathan threatens SaharaReporters with libel, defamation

Found this news on Sahara Reporters.Apparently the president is threatening to sue the online news agency for defamation for reporting that his health problems while in London may have been caused by heavy partying in celebration of his birthday last week. Meanwhile, presidential spokesman Reuben Abati said yesterday that the president will return to Nigeria today having been certified fit to travel after receiving treatment for acute abdominal pains. The doctors said no surgical intervention was required. Sahara Reporters libel report below... Nigeria leader, President Goodluck Jonathan, has threatened to take SaharaReporters to court for reporting that his health problems in London during the week may have resulted from heavy partying in celebration of his 56th birthday. In a statement by his spokesman, Reuben Abati, the president condemned what he called the “utterly irresponsible, deplorable, highly unprofessional and unethical antics of certain fringe elements operating in the nebulous sphere of cyberspace who persist in seizing every opportunity to unjustifiably malign and impugn the character and integrity of the elected leader of their country.” He said it was regrettable that while the public had been duly informed that Mr. Jonathan had received precautionary medical attention for an unexpected indisposition in London in compliance with the leader’s standing instruction that Nigerians must never be kept in the dark about the state of his health, SaharaReporters and other reckless, lawless, impudent and unpatriotic internet-based ignored the official script “with their entirely fictional, malicious, hate-driven and scurrilous distortion of the facts.” Reiterating the denial of a party in London to celebrate President Jonathan's birthday on Wednesday night, Abati said the president upon arrival spent the day in the privacy of his hotel room and that it has never been his custom to celebrate birthday anniversaries. In particular, there was certainly no drinking spree, he claimed. “As unregulated as they are, SaharaReporters and their ilk are not beyond the bounds of legal action for libel and willful defamation of the character and reputation of a President who has courageously stepped forward to serve his country,” the statement threatened. “They know very well that they can never substantiate or prove the constant false allegations and innuendoes they publish for the sole purpose of negatively portraying President Jonathan and his administration. “Their incessant claim of a bibulous President is pure fiction and blackmail, and the product of malicious imagination. We warn that our forbearance of their disrespectful caricaturing of the President is not limitless.” Despite Mr. Jonathan’s threats and deployment of scare tactics, SaharaReporters stands by its account of the events in London in the past few days. While we have the attention of the president and the hawks in the presidency, we take this opportunity to draw their attention to the scandalous quality of Nigerian governance that SaharaReporters and most of the Nigerian media have been reporting for many years, of which his government forms only a part. As the 2015 election approaches and Mr. Jonathan tries to invite the sympathy of Nigerians in his favor, we challenge him to prove— including in a court of law—that these reports have been “entirely fictional, malicious, hate-driven and scurrilous distortion of the facts.”

EFCC arrests Gov Sule Lamido’s two sons over alleged N10b fraud

According to a report by Premium TimesThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two sons of Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido, over an alleged N10billion fraud. Aminu and Mustapha Lamido were arrested on Thursday in Kano and flown to Abuja on Friday morning, and are currently being interrogated at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja by a crack team of detectives. The arrest of the governor’s sons, insiders say, is in furtherance of the investigation that commenced in December 2012 when Aminu Sule Lamido was arrested at the Mallam Aminu Kano Airport en route Cairo, Egypt for failure to declare the $50,000 he had on him. Although Aminu has since been prosecuted and convicted by a Federal High Court in Kano, investigation as to how he came by the money has led investigations to uncover a web of money laundering in which billions of naira from Jigawa state govt accounts are funnelled into the accounts of companies run by the Jigawa state governor and his 2sons. Over N10billion is said to have been transferred from Jigawa state government accounts into the accounts in which Sule Lamido and his two sons have interest from 2007 till date. The Commission is said to have traced these transfers to 10 companies where Lamido and sons are directors and signatories to the account. The companies include Bamaina Alluminium Limited, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited, Rawda Integrated Services Limited, Speeds International Limited and Saby Integrated Nigeria Limited. The account of these companies received huge cash inflow between 2007 and 2013, a period that coincide with the tenure of Sule Lamido as governor of Jigawa state. For instance in Bamaina Aluminium where Sule Lamido and his two sons are directors, investigations revealed that the company’s account controlled by Mustapha as signatory received total credit of N1.52billion between January 2010 and August 2013. It recorded a total debit of the same amount, with Mustapha and other companies in which Lamido and his sons are directors, being the beneficiaries. In the same vein, Bamaina Holdings Limited’s account with the governor as sole signatory received a total of N1.19billion between February 2007 and July 2013. About N1billion was paid from this account into accounts of companies controlled by the governor and his sons. Massive lodgements were also discovered in the account of Bamaina Company Nigeria limited controlled by Mustapha as sole signatory from Bamaina Alluminium. Between January 2010 and July 2013, the account received over N500million. From the account of Rawda Integrated Services Limited controlled by Mustapha, there have also been massive movement of funds to another company run by Sule Lamido, Speeds International Limited. Speeds’ account recorded a turnover ofN2.2billion between January 2007 and February 2010. In the account of Rawda with a new generation bank investigators discovered the movement of N2.6billion to an unknown signatory. That account recorded over one hundred withdrawals running to over N600milion in cash between November 2007 and April 2008. Saby Integrated Services Nigeria Limited, another company owned by Lamido received over N730million from several Jigawa State government agencies between June 2010 and August 2010.

Jay Z and Beyonce close to breaking up? Yeah, right Star magazine

According to new reports, the pressures of touring have Jay Z and Beyonce this close to breaking up.. From Star Magazine Things seem to have taken a rocky turn for the seemingly happily married couple. Beyonce, 32, is reportedly thinking about taking a break from her marriage because she thinks Jay is being “selfish” and not putting his family first. While Beyonce was in Australia for herMrs. Cartertour, Jay Z visited her and the two lovebirds took a mini 3-day vacation to a private resort to spend some quality time together. But apparently it was more than just a relaxing trip. "Jay Z’s early November trip to Australia was not just a family getaway, it was a last-ditch effort to keep his marriage afloat," an insider told Star. "Jay Z’s decision to tour Europe at the same time as Beyoncé is touring Australia has caused serious damage to their relationship — damage that may be ultimately prove to be irreparable.” Though the source says Bey didn’t have an issue with Jay, 43, going on tour with Justin Timberlake over the summer, she assumed that he would at least take the initiative to accompany her and their 19-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy, on tour in Australia and New Zealand – instead of going clubbing all the time. "Not only did he plan the tour without consulting her at all, but he didn’t even try to coordinate dates with her tour. She told him he was selfish." "Beyoncé has been feeling like a single mother lately — and has been letting her husband know he’s on shaky ground, and she’s using the time they spend apart as a trial separation."

Wande Coal's Baby Face producer Shizzi speaks out on controversial song

Top music producer,Sheyi'Shizzi'Akerele, who produced Wande Coal's version of the controversial song 'Baby Face', which Don Jazzy says was stolen from him, has released a statement explaining his involvement in the whole issue. He mentions that he produced Wande's hit song 'Go Low' which he never got credit for. See his statement below... I have heard and seen some folks rants about me stealing production credit for Wande Coal's new single "Baby Face" and I would like to clarify this issue. I was only doing my job by making the beat for Wande and that's what I did. I don't see any reason why people should jump into quick conclusions without taking their time to really dig into the matter for facts. Two years back, I remember I created a demo for Wande Coal's "Shawty Go Low" and someone else took the credits. I was in shock because I had plans to finish the song with Wande and was hoping it would be released as a single which I produced. Here is the link to the original version of "Go Low

Quite a few people have seen and interacted with Tonto at D'banj's place and some even think she's his current babe because of how much time she spends there and some of the 'things' the two stars get up to ... but me I don't know that one oh, all I know is that she spends time there to further her music career and I do not know if D'banj is planning to sign her to his record label but he once saidthat if he signs her, she will blow! Meanwhile, I hear the new song Tonto is recording at D'banj's studio is a banger. We dey wait to hear am..:-) Oh and by the way, Tonto Dikeh once dated Don Jazzy! End of my amebo...#runsaway...:-)

Nick Minaj defends posting revealing halloween costume online

Nicki Minaj tells Power 105.1FM’s Breakfast Club... I’ve just been feeling a lot more comfortable, and its like if you’re feeling yourself, you might as well show the world. Like f*** the world. Sometimes you just hold so much back and its like, ‘Look, I’m a girl and I won’t be able to do this when I am 60 years old, so I am going to freaking do it now.’ I didn’t know it was going to be that big of a deal. Because I swearmy friendShericka bought me that costume 2 hours before I put it on. My stylist couldn’t come through with the costume that I was going to wear. I was going to have this cheetah thing and paint my face and then I couldn’t get it, so I was like ‘Well, let me just get any old thing.’ And that was the any old thing.
